About us

IAHR Panama YPN was founded by a group of young professionals with the aim to organize the YPN during the 38th IAHR World Congress held in Panama in September 2019. Since then, the group has organized and has been very active promoting and organizing activities both locally in Panama and regionally in Latin America.

The chapter's mission is to promote the development of technical capacities in the general field of hydro-environmental sciences (water, environment and renewable energies) in students and young professionals, and to influence through interdisciplinary scientific research in Panamanian society to achieve a more resilient and sustainable country.

The groups vision is to become a national reference in the field of hydro-environmental sciences (water, environment and renewable energies) for the design of sustainable solutions through a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, through the Panamanian professional youth, including universities, public and private sectors.

• IAHR Panama YPN celebrates its first anniversary 
  On 1 September 2020, the IAHR Panamá YPN celebrated its first anniversary and, to commemorate this important date, a video was produced about the inauguration event that took place at the 38th IAHR World Congress in Panama. The IAHR Panama YPN has also produced a video which takes stock of its first year.

  El 1 de septiembre de 2020, la IAHR Panamá YPN celebró su primer aniversario y, para conmemorarlo, se editó un vídeo reseñando el evento de inauguración que tuvo lugar en el marco del 38° Congreso Mundial de la IAHR celebrado en Panamá. La IAHR Panamá YPN ha producido también un vídeo en el que hace balance de la experiencia este primer año. 

26 September 2020 | 10 a.m. (GMT -5): Webinar (via Zoom). Development of a numerical wave model. Scientific internship at the Polytechnic University of Bari, by Dr Lucas Calvo. Dr Calvo talked about (in Spanish): Higher education in Italy; Research internship at SENACYT (how to apply, process and experience); Research findings: a numerical wave model, development, and verification.

En el webinario el doctor Lucas nos habló sobre temas como: Educación superior en Italia; Pasantías de Investigación con SENACYT (como aplicar, proceso y experiencia); Hallazgos de la investigación: un modelo numérico de oleajes desarrollo y verificación.

Broadcast in real time through Instagram every Thursday at 2:00 p.m. (Panama time, GMT -5), "Agua y Café" (Water and Coffee) provided an excellent opportunity to discuss and get first-hand information and advice from young researchers, scientists and engineers as they share their own professional experiences and lessons learned.
