The IAHR Council Meeting was hosted by the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) in Lisbon - venue of the 8th IAHR Europe Congress 

The current Council comprises the Executive committee members, Regional Division Chairs, Technical Committees Chairs, Journal Editors and regional representatives of the Young Professionals Networks. 

The meeting was opened by IAHR President Philippe Gourvesbille. Helena Alegre, Head of Hydraulics and Environment Department of LNEC and host of the Council Meeting and 8th Europe Congress welcome the members in the morning of 3 June 2024. LNEC's mission is to undertake, coordinate and promote scientific research and technological development, aiming to the continuous improvement and the good practice of Civil Engineering. 

Since its early days, LNEC has been establishing networks and partnerships with national and international entities,  giving it the ability to promote and foster the globalization of Science and Knowledge, positioning LNEC as an important partner in its area of expertise.

8th IAHR Europe Division Congress 

Over 440 participants have enjoyed excellent keynote lectures, numerous technical and special sessions, multiple workshops and masterclasses, a special programme of activities dedicated to young professionals, and various social events to enjoy the beauty, culture and history of Lisbon. Our huge thanks to LNEC for being an extraordinary host!
