The 8th Europe IAHR Congress was held at LNEC from June 4 to 7, under the theme "Water - Across Boundaries."
The event brought together experts and professionals from around the world to discuss and share the latest developments and trends in R&D topics related to the entire water cycle. The conference offered a diverse and comprehensive program, consisting of 48 technical sessions, 4 lectures, 4 master classes, 2 sessions organized by Young Professionals - Portugal, 3 award presentations (Gerhard Jirka Award, IAHR Regional Industry Award, and IAHR Regional Hydro-Environment Heritage Award), and a technical exhibition with the participation of 9 stands.
The event included a social agenda that provided networking opportunities and the exchange of ideas in an informal environment, with activities such as the Welcome Reception, Young Professionals Night, the congress dinner, and three technical visits.
The event gathered 432 participants from 38 countries!
Four invited speakers participated with topics representative of the areas of fluvial, climate change, coastal zones, and urban areas:

“Teaching and working in the cloud with Copernicus products: A hands-on tutorial for learning the usefulness of cloud computation for collaboration and teaching on a study case”, Juan Pablo García, Manuel del Jesus, Dina V. Gómez, Universidad de Cantabria, Santander, Spain. Participants: 27
The IAHR Regional Hydro-Environment Heritage Awards gives international professional recognition to the work of local hydro-environment engineers, and the infrastructure should demonstrably have stood the test of time (be at least one hundred years old) and be accepted and valued nationally.
Award given to the Aqueduto das Águas Livres/EPAL
The IAHR Industry Innovation Award gives international professional recognition to the work of local hydro-environment engineers.

Welcome Reception
The Welcome Reception was held on June 4th in the gardens of LNEC and featured a performance by the IST Tuna.
IAHR Young Professionals Night
The Young Professionals Night took place in the gardens of Palácio Pimenta, Museu de Lisboa, on June 4th, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. A guided tour of the Palace was organized as part of this event. The remaining activities were organized by YPN-Portugal. It was attended by 52 participants.
Congress Dinner
The congress dinner took place at the Cordoaria Nacional on June 5th, with approximately 330 participants.
Technical Visits
Three technical visits were conducted on June 7th:
- Full-day: Alqueva Dam and Wine Tasting, 36 participants
- Half-day: Aqueduto das Águas Livres, 40 participants
- Half-day: Lisbon Drainage Master Plan, 20 participants
