IAHR signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid

IAHR signs an agreement with the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid (SWG). IAHR continues seeking to work with national water engineering associations across the world to share and leverage the latest research and best practices. 

The agreement reinforces the shared vision of both the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid and IAHR to promote holistic water management.  The agreement  accelerates the benefits of international exchange, by providing valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives on regional and global scales. We look forward to the fruits of this cooperation! 

About the Society of Korean Smart Water Grid

The Society of Korean Smart Water Grid (SWG) was established on November 24, 2014, to advance smart grid technologies in water management across Korea. The society integrates advanced ICT with traditional water management systems to enhance their efficiency and sustainability.

SWG remains committed to transforming Korea's water management systems through advanced technologies and collaborative efforts to tackle challenges in a rapidly changing environment.

SWG comprises over 1,000 members, including engineers, researchers, and policymakers dedicated to improving water management practices.

The society features several committees and interest groups focusing on technology, policy, and public relations to align with the latest industry trends.

SWG is led by President Dal-Sik Woo, who also serves as the President of K-water Operation & Maintenance Corporation. His expertise drives the society's mission to innovate within the water management sector.

Core Objectives: 

  • Technological Advancement: Leading research and development in smart water technologies.

  • Collaborative Initiatives: Creating strategic partnerships across various sectors to promote smart water management.

  • Educational Outreach: Conducting educational programs to foster innovation and spread knowledge within the water sector.

Major Activities and Contributions:

  • Annual Events: Includes hosting the Smart Water Grid International Conference and organizing symposiums and seminars.

  • Research and Publications: Active in research and publication of significant findings in water management.

  • Policy Influence: Influences policy to incorporate smart technologies for sustainable water management.
