Meet the Winner of the 2024 RIBAGUA Award!

The Winner of the 2024 RIBAGUA Best Paper Award has been announced at the 31st IAHR Latin America Regional Division Congress.

The RIBAGUA Best Article Award rewards the best contribution to the Ibero-American Water Journal (RIBAGUA) with original research that addresses significant problems in water management in the region.

The 2024 RIBAGUA Award goes to the article "Validation study of the SPHERIMENTAL model through analysis with hybrid simulation of the right intake of the Angostura dam (Peru). Ribagua, 7(1), 1–11 by Rebollo, J. J., López, D., Balairón, L., Ramos, T., Turrero, L., and Berga, M.I, (2020)"  “for its successful application of a sophisticated numerical technique for solving a design problem of a hydraulic structure of notable importance in Latin America, and for its comparison of results with other models."

The conmemorative plaque was collected by co-author David Lopez, Head of Department of the Centre for Hydrographic Studies of CEDEX from the hands of the Editors of RIBAGUA, Fabián Bombardelli  and Julio Kuroiwa.

About the winner

Juan José Rebollo is a Civil Engineer from the University of Castilla - La Mancha (UCLM), Spain, and a Doctor in Civil Engineering Systems from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). Between 2005 and 2007 he was awarded a scholarship by the Erasmus Program at the Royal Stockholm Institute of Technology (KTH) and, later, a researcher contracted at UCLM.

In 2009, he joined the Higher Technical Scale of Autonomous Organizations of the Ministry of Public Works by competitive examination, developing his entire career as a civil servant at CEDEX.Since that same year he has been part of the European Division of the IAHR, where he has participated in various conferences and congresses, as well as in the constitution of the YPN in Spain. Also, between 2010 and 2014, he was an associate professor at the European University of Madrid (UEM), where he taught Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics.

He is currently a Technical Advisor at the Hydraulics Laboratory of the CEDEX Hydrographic Studies Centre, where he has participated in a multitude of projects both in Spain and in Latin America and Middle East.

¡Conoce al Ganador del Premio RIBAGUA 2024!

El Ganador del Premio RIBAGUA al Mejor Artículo 2024 ha sido anunciado en el 31° Congreso de la División Regional de América Latina de IAHR.

El Premio RIBAGUA al Mejor Artículo premia la mejor contribución a la Revista Iberoamericana del Agua (RIBAGUA) con una investigación original que aborde problemas significativos en la gestión del agua en la región.

El Premio RIBAGUA 2024 ha sido otorgado al artículo "Estudio de validación del modelo SPHERIMENTAL mediante análisis con simulación híbrida de la bocatoma derecha de la presa Angostura (Perú). Ribagua, 7(1), 1–11 de Rebollo, J. J., López, D., Balairón, L., Ramos, T., Turrero, L., and Berga, M.I, (2020)" “por su exitosa aplicación de una sofisticada técnica numérica para la solución de un problema de diseño de una estructura hidráulica de notable importancia en América Latina, y por su comparación de resultados con otros modelos”.

La placa conmemorativa ha sido recogida por el coautor David Lopez, Jefe de Área del  Centro de Estudios Hidrográficos- CEDEX de manos de los editores de RIBAGUA, Fabián Bombardelli  y Julio Kuroiwa en el 31 Congreso Latinoamericano de Hidráulica celebrado en Medellín.

Sobre el autor principal

Juan José Rebollo es Ingeniero de Caminos, Canales y Puertos por la Universidad de Castilla – La Mancha (UCLM) y Doctor en Sistemas de Ingeniería Civil por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). Entre 2005 y 2007 fue becado por el Programa Erasmus en el Real Instituto de Tecnología de Estocolmo (KTH) y, posteriormente, investigador contratado en la UCLM.

En 2009 ingresó por oposición en la Escala Técnica Superior de Organismos Autónomos del Ministerio de Fomento, desarrollando toda su carrera como funcionario en el CEDEX. Desde ese mismo año ha formado parte de la División Europea de la IAHR, donde ha participado en diversas conferencias y congresos, así como en la constitución de la YPN en España. También, entre 2010 y 2014, fue profesor asociado en la Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM), donde impartió docencia de Hidráulica y Mecánica de Fluidos.

Actualmente es Consejero Técnico del Laboratorio de Hidráulica del Centro de Estudios Hidrográficos del CEDEX, donde ha participado en multitud de proyectos tanto en España como en Latinoamérica y Oriente Medio.
