IAHR has introduced updated governance rules for appointing Editors and editorial team members for its journals and publications. This initiative builds on IAHR’s long-standing commitment to excellence, ensuring the highest academic, professional, and ethical standards in its publications while optimizing the editorial process for the future.
IAHR recognizes the critical role Editors, Associate Editors, Deputy Editors, and Assistant Editors play in managing peer-reviewed journals. Their responsibilities include overseeing the submission, peer-review, and editing processes, meeting publishing deadlines, and ensuring that all published material upholds rigorous standards. The new governance framework formalizes and strengthens these practices, reflecting IAHR’s dedication to supporting its journals in their vital role within the hydro-environment research community.
Selection process
To identify and appoint the most qualified candidates, IAHR has established a structured and transparent selection process. A Selection Committee, consisting of 3-4 members, will be recommended by the Vice President responsible for publications and approved by the Executive Committee. This committee will evaluate candidates based on their qualifications, statements of intent, and interviews. Key factors considered include:
International reputation and research contributions
Experience with peer-reviewed journals
Field of expertise
Commitment to diversity (gender, geography, and age)
Availability and capacity to fulfill editorial responsibilities
Editors will be appointed by the IAHR President for an initial three-year term, ensuring a smooth, consistent editorial leadership that reflects IAHR’s global mission.
