IAHR is proud to share that Professor Marcelo H. García, IAHR Honorary Member, has been elected to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE)—the highest professional distinction for an engineer in the United States. 

The announcement was made by the University of Illinois, where Professor García holds the M.T. Geoffrey Yeh Endowed Chair in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The official induction ceremony will take place later this year.

Professor García's election to the NAE recognises his outstanding contributions to the fields of sediment transport, river engineering, and environmental hydraulics—areas in which he has also made significant impact within IAHR through decades of active involvement, leadership, and excellence.

This well-deserved recognition is a source of pride for the IAHR community and all who have had the privilege of working with Professor García.
