Flood Control Activities Conducted by DSI within the scope of 'Integrated Environmental Protection and Development Plan for Riva River' - Actividades de control de inundaciones llevadas a cabo por DSI en el marco del "Plan Integrado de Protección Ambiental y Desarrollo del Río Riva".

Espanol: En septiembre de 2009 se produjo una devastadora inundación en el río Riva, que causó la muerte de 31 ciudadanos y grandes daños económicos. A raíz de ello, las instituciones responsables, el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Silvicultura, el Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Asentamientos, el Ministerio del Interior, la Dirección General de Obras Hidráulicas del Estado (DSI), la Gobernación de Estambul, la Administración de Aguas y Alcantarillado de Estambul y la Municipalidad Metropolitana de Estambul organizaron una reunión de coordinación y cooperación en el Centro de Coordinación de Desastres. Como resultado de esta reunión, se decidió aplicar un enfoque holístico que incluyera las cuestiones ambientales y sociales junto con la solución del problema de las inundaciones en el río Riva. En la presentación que se hará se dará una breve información sobre la cuenca del río Riva y su situación actual, así como información sobre el control de las inundaciones y los estudios en curso realizados por el DSI en la cuenca.

English: A devastating flood took place in the Riva River in September 2009, causing the death of 31 citizens and great economic damages. Thereupon, the responsible institutions, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI), the Governorship of Istanbul, the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality organized a coordination and cooperation meeting at the Disaster Coordination Center. As a result of this meeting, it was decided to implement a holistic approach including environmental and social issues together with the solution of the flood problem in the Riva River. In the presentation to be made, brief informations about the Riva river basin and its current situation will be given, as well as information about the flood control and ongoing studies carried out by the DSI in the basin.
