2nd IAHR coffee chat for young professional women: Work - Life Balance
On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), the IAHR will host its second online coffee chat for young professional women on how to establish a healthy and sustainable work-life balance on Thursday 11 February 2021 from 4 to 5 p.m. CET.
Prof. Silke Wieprecht from the University of Stuttgart, Vice-President of IAHR and Chair of the IAHR task force on Strengthening Diversity and Gender Equity, and Prof. Virginia Ruiz-Villanueva from the University of Lausanne, will share their experiences and give advice to young professionals on how to become a successful researcher, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
"The target audience are young women engineers, as he hydro-environment community is dominated by men and so the majority of keynote speakers or invited speakers in general are male. The intention, therefore, is to provide an informal environment, where young professional women can get to know established women researchers. However, we also aim to provide an inclusive event, so of course, interested men are also welcome to join the discussion. It’s true that work-life balance is a topic that concerns everyone, but it may also be useful to find out about questions or concerns that mainly stem from women. In general, I think the work on gender equity is not restricted only to women but a topic for all of us." Isabella Schalko, moderator

The coffee chat will start with a short introduction by Prof. Silke Wieprecht and Prof. Virginia Ruiz-Villanueva, followed by a Q&A moderated by Dr Isabella Schalko from ETH Zurich.
This second coffee chat is planned as a webinar and the participants will be asked to send 2-3 questions in advance, so they can be included in the moderated discussion. There will also be an opportunity to ask additional questions in a chat box.
