It is paradoxical to realise about the water challenges being faced in such a rich continent in natural resources like Africa. International water associations like IAHR have brought knowledge and technology for a better hydro-environment worldwide, however there is still a lot to do in Africa. This session will cover some of the main water challenges from both researcher’s and practitioner’s perspectives, as well as the role of IAHR to impact on the professional development of African water engineers.
