A total of 95 participants have registered for the 3rd IAHR Young Professionals Hydro-Environment Challenge.
Applicants represent a wide variety of regions, including 28% from Africa, 24% from the Asia Pacific region, 24% from Europe, 15% from Latin America, 5% from the Middle East region and 4% from North America.
The distribution by themes is quite balanced, as 29% applicants have registered for the Experimental Data challenge, 30% for the Ecohydraulics challenge and 41% for the Fluvial Hydraulics challenge.
In terms of gender distribution around 75% of registrants are men while 25% are women.
By sector, research-based institutions are preponderant, with around 61% of the applicants coming from the academia, 15% from companies, 15% from research institutes and 9% from governments.
Finally 55 of the participants are IAHR members and 44 are non-members.
The kick-off meetings of the different challenges will take place between 2 and 8 March, while the challenges will last till 21 May. The participants will be grouped, and each group will be accompanied by technical mentors and coaches throughout the whole process. The composition of the teams and the main steps will be announced during the kick-off meeting.
Each of the winning teams will receive support to attend the 40th IAHR World Congress in Vienna, Austria, where there will be a "Meet and Greet your teams and coaches” session.
