About
(1923-2014) Dr. Stevan Brook is one of the most prominent hydrotechnical experts, a world-renowned expert in the field of river hydraulics and river sediment theory. Stevan Brook was born in Sombor in 1923, graduated in 1951 from the Civil Engineering Department of the Technical Faculty in Zagreb, and in 1962 received his doctorate from the Civil Engineering Faculty in Belgrade with a dissertation in the field of flow and transport of granular matter.

Expertise Fields/Interests:
Professor Brooke's scientific and professional work is very diverse and includes many areas of hydrotechnics, but the following three areas of his research activities can be singled out: experimental and theoretical hydraulics, river hydraulics in which he made significant contributions, especially in the study of sediment transport in different flow regimes and the field of rheology of mixtures of fluids and granular materials.
Major Achievements:
He has published over 120 scientific and professional papers in foreign and domestic journals, international congresses and domestic scientific conferences. He has gained a world reputation in the field of river hydraulics and river sediment theory. He has given introductory lectures in the field of river hydraulics and morphology at a number of international conferences, as well as invited lectures in India (1973), Tunisia (1990), Germany (1992), the Netherlands (1994) and Sudan (2006). He served as president of the Yugoslav Hydraulic Society (1982-1986) and has been a distinguished member since 1990. He was a member of the board of directors of the International Society for Hydraulic Research - IAHR (1977-1981) and has been its honorary member since 1987. He was a lifelong member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and a member of the editorial board of the International Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS).
