Associate Professor
About
Associate Professor Gs Dr. Tan Mou Leong is currently working at the Geography Section at School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He completed his BSc and Ph.D. in the field of remote sensing from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at National University of Singapore (NUS). He is a professional member of the Institute of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM). In addition, he is also an active member for the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) and International Association of Hydrological Sciences. Dr. Tan’s primary research involves the application of GIS and remote sensing in hydro- climatic modelling. His research reflects a critical nexus of analysing geographical data layers, remotely sensed satellite data, climate change projections and hydrological modelling for conducting cutting-edge water resource and disaster assessments in tropical regions. Dr. Tan has published more than 100 research articles in predominantly Q1 and Q2 journals that have been cited over 2,800 times, with an H-index of 28. He was one of the world’s top 2% scientists in environmental science based on the report released by Stanford University. He is serving as an Academic Editor for Plos One, on the editorial boards of HydroResearch, Geografi and Journal of Asian Geography, as well as a Guest Editor for special issues that were published in Water and Advances in Meteorology.
