Dr. Se-Woong Chung is currently a Professor at the Dept. of Environmental Engineering, Chungbuk National University and has been working at this University since 2003. Prior to that, he has worked in various roles at the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) since 1990. He also worked as a Research Associate and Research Assistant at Iowa State University, Iowa, USA. Dr. Chung completed his PhD in Civil and Construction Engineering (Environmental Engr.) in1998 from the Iowa State University, Iowa, USA. He also holds a M.S. degree in Civil and Construction Engineering (Environmental Engr.) from the same University. He has 30 years research experience in the water sector. His research interests are hydrodynamic and water quality modelling for the sustainable management of rivers, reservoirs, and estuaries, real-time water quality monitoring and modelling for operations of rivers and reservoirs ,effects of physical processes on biogeochemical processes and ecosystem function in stratified reservoirs and effects of climate change on the surface water quality and ecosystem . Previously Dr. Chung has been a Gledden Visiting Fellow (2007) and a Visiting Research Fellow (2009-20012) at the Centre for Water Research at the University of Western Australia and a Visiting Research Scholar (2013) at the Tahoe Environmental Research Center at the University of California Davis. Dr. Chung has been a recipient of numerous awards and currently has 120 publications in international journals and domestic journals. He has also presented at numerous international conferences. He is currently a member of the Korea Water Resources Association , Korean Society of Environmental Engineers, Korean Society on Water Quality, Korean Society of Agricultural Engineers, International Water Association, Association for Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography and the American Geophysical Union.
