Robert A. Dalrympleis the Willard & Lillian Hackerman Professor of Civil Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. He received a Ph.D. in Civiland Coastal Engineering Engineering from University of Florida. He is a licensed profes-sional engineer, a Distinguished Member of ASCE, and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and a corresponding member of the Real Academia de Ingeniería (Spain).
