Dr Xie is a Reader in the School of Engineering at Cardiff University. He obtained Ph.D. in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in 2010 from the University of Leeds, funded by the Marie Curie EST Fellowship. Before joining Cardiff in 2017, he was a Research Associate at Imperial College London. He hosted the Royal Society Newton Advanced Fellowship in 2020 and awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers in 2023 to work in the Institute of Hydromechanics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. His research interests span a broad range of topics in CFD, turbulence modelling and simulation, multiphase flows, water wave mechanics, hydrodynamics, hydraulics, environmental fluid mechanics, and high-performance computing.
