About

Maike Paul is a senior scientist at Ludwig Franzius Institute of Hydraulic, Estuarine and Coastal Engineering, Leibniz University Hannover, Germany where she is heading the research group Ecohydraulics and Ecosystem services. Her work focusses on the interaction of coastal biota (plants, algae, bivalves) with hydrodynamics with the aim to integrate ecosystems in coastal protection strategies. She is thus expanding the institute’s education and research beyond inert structures both in understanding interactions and utilising ecosystem services.
