About
After completing his doctorate on the hillside reservoirs of Northeast Brazil, Alain Laraque devoted his career to the large hydrosystems (from 0.5 to 6.2 million km²) that converge in the intertropical Atlantic Ocean, including the three main rivers of the planet (Amazon, Congo, Orinoco). His core business is therefore that of a potamologist, with as a guideline, the study of hydro-climatic and hydro-sedimentological functioning as well as biogeochemical and geodynamic of these vast basins. To do so, during numerous stays abroad (17 years of expatriation with assignments in 5 different countries in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and multiple overseas missions, Alain has been able to set up, coordinate and/or participate in numerous projects and expertises within multi-national teams, while developing and animating multidisciplinary, inter-institutional and regional South-South, as well as North-South collaborative networks. Alain also holds a Habilitation to Supervise Research (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) defended in 2008 and has several dozen publications to his credit
