About
Đorđe S. Čantrak is a Full Professor and Head of the Chair for Hydraulic Machinery and Energy Systems at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering University of Belgrade (FME UB). He has graduated at the Department for hydropower engineering at FME UB, as the best student in generation in 2001. with average mark 9.79. He has defended his PhD thesis in 2012 at the FME UB. He was awarded for the best paper in the field of technical sciences at the UB for the school year 2000/2001. He is head of the Laboratory for turbulence and velocimetry, at Hydraulic Machinery and Energy Systems Department, FME UB. He has had fellowships from the University of Belgrade, Government of the Republic of Serbia and Kingdom of Norway embassy in Belgrade. He has been categorized as researcher of the first category by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development Republic of Serbia (Ministry) in the field of Technological Development since December 2010. Author is awarded with the Fulbright research scholarship for the academic year 2013/2014 in Center for Turbulence Research, Stanford University USA and NASA Ames Laboratory for Fluid Mechanics (Senior Research Fellow, https://ctr.stanford.edu/former). He was researcher in twelve scientific projects of the Ministry and in ten international projects. He was Project leader in Serbia at the Bilateral Project with Germany (TU Clausthal, Institute of Applied Mechanics): "Computational and experimental investigation of the airflow in the human nasal cavity" in period 2016-2017 and the Bilateral project with University of Montenegro in period 2016-2018: "Investigation of the Influence of Turbulent Swirl Flow on Energy Parameters of the Axial Fans by Use of the Contemporary Measurement Techniques". He is in 2021-2022. project leader of the project: “Flow investigation within innovative designed regulative element of the control valve”, project between FME UB and company in Austria VLL Solutions, Vienna, funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. He is local network partner for UB CEEPUS III network: "Building Knowledge and Experience Exchange in CFD", CIII-RS-1012-07-2122 for 2021/2022 and also academic coordinator for two Erasmus+ mobility programs. He was leader for hydropower activities in project for Electric Power Industry of Serbia for period: 2013-2014. He has been employed at the Hydraulic machinery and energy systems department (HMESD) FME UB as the associate professor since December 2017., assistant professor since December 2012., and teaching and research assistant since February 2002. He teaches in the following subjects: „Measurements in Turbulent Flows“ at the Ph.D. level, „Fans and Compressors“ at the M.Sc. level, „Measurements in Hydropower Engineering“ at the M.Sc. level, „Basics of Flow Measurements“ at the B.Sc. level and etc. He is the Guest Editor for the Special Issue of the International Scientific Journal Thermal Science, published in December 2017. He is Co-Editor of the Special Issue at the Journal Advances in Mechanical Engineering. He has given a set of lectures in turbulence at the University of Granada in 2019 through Erasmus+ program. He was mentor for one PhD thesis, sixteen diploma and M.Sc. theses and thirteen B.Sc. theses. He was a member of 3 PhD theses committees (at University of Montenegro (UM), University of Novi Sad and UBFME) and 1 PhD committee in progress at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UB. Čantrak was an external expert referee for one PhD thesis at the University of Granada. He is author or co-author of 14 papers in international journals (SCI list), 2 editorials in the journals at the SCI list, seventeen papers in national journals, forty-eight papers at the international conferences, five at the national conferences and etc. He has one patent, ten technical solutions, ninety-three reports for industry and etc. He has given more than forty-one lectures at different universities and institutes. He is engaged as the technical expert for energy systems with hydraulic machines and technical evaluator in the field of pressure, velocimetry and volume flow calibration for the Accreditation Board of Serbia.
