About
Dr. ir. Corrado Altomare is a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Researcher at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC), in Barcelona (Spain) with activity focussing on coastal safety and analysis of countermeasures to the climate change. He has 13 years of experience in research, consultancy, and modelling of coastal structures. This work has been done both in an academic environment (Technical University of Catalonia of Barcelona, Spain; Ghent University in Belgium) as well as for real applications (Flanders Hydraulics Research). He is experienced in coastal engineering, with strong expertise in physical modelling. He has been involved in engineering consultancy and research on coastal protection and coastal safety, harbors and marinas design for Belgian coast mainly, as well as for Spanish and Italian coast. He is co-developer of DualSPHysics numerical model. Moreover he contributed to the EurOtop manual (2nd Edition) and to the Guidelines for Safety Assessment of the Belgian Coast.
