My name is Achilleas Samaras. I was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1982. I am Assistant Professor of Maritime Hydraulics, Port & Harbour Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering in Democritus University of Thrace (Greece). I have a PhD in Civil Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), where I also acquired my Diploma and MSc in Civil Engineering, both with "Honours" and as a Valedictorian . ​Prior to my current appointment, I was a Research Fellow at the University of Bologna (Italy) and have served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Marine Sciences in the University of the Aegean (Greece). ​My research interests focus on coastal and ocean engineering, including a particular interest in the dynamics of coupled watershed-coast systems.
