Abstract: West Lake is one of the biggest lakes in Hanoi Vietnam, playing a key role not only for developing eco-society but also being an important part of the ecological balance and environmental protection. Recently, the urbanization rate has increased significantly, causing direct damage to water environment of this lake. Therefore, this study provides initial results of assessing water quality in West Lake by taking consideration in indexes: temperatures, dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD). . . etc. By using FVCOM model (Finite Volume method for Coastal and Oceanic Model) to evaluate water quality we will bring a visual results in term of graphic which illustrates the change of these indexes above in both depth and time. These assessments will be basis to continue further study related to planning and improving water quality.
