Abstract: Mekong River is one of the largest river in Asia, it is much famous with many benefits involving navigation, water demand, agriculture and so on for six nations that it passes. In Vietnam the river divided into two main distributaries as Tien and Hau Rivers before emptying East Sea of Vietnam through nine estuaries. Tran De and Dinh An estuaries belong Hau River, which Dinh An estuary is main transport routine which is an international navigation channel was built in the estuary for vessels traveling from the East Sea to the southwestern area of Vietnam and then to Phnom Penh. Previous studies show that the estuary has been dramatically changed morphological revolution by sedimentation, which causes enormous negative influence on navigation channel in Dinh An estuary. In 2009, a new navigation channel through Quan Chanh Bo channel is proposed by Vietnam Ministry of Transport. However, there are many issues relating to estuary morphological evolution and environment. In this study, the influence of Quan Chanh Bo channel on hydrodynamic and sediment transport of Hau River’s estuary will be evaluated under anticipated scenarios based on numerical models.
