Abstract: The Baiyangdian Lake is the largest wetland in the North China. In recent years, the water level of the lake decline dramatically and even dry up occasionally. Climate change and human activities are the main reasons of the inflow decline. It is significant to evaluate the influence to make strategies for Baiyangdian Lake’s ecological protection. On the basis of 1-km DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and the digitized hydrography, the Baiyangdian Lake Basin is divided into 302 sub-basins. Then 1-10 contour belts are carved in every sub-basin, and 1435 contour belts are subdivided in the basin. A distributed hydrological model is developed with combination of natural water cycle and artificial water use cycle. The average error of simulated runoff by the model is less than 10%compared with the observed value, and the Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency of monthly runoff at main gage stations is greater than 70%. The model is applied to analyze the trend of inflow to the Baiyangdian Lake. Scenario analysis shows that decrease of precipitation, air temperature rising and increase of human activities are the main reasons of the Baiyangdian Lake’s inflow decrease.
