Abstract: The present study investigates experimentally the effect of shallow water depth on the mixing of a 45 degree inclined dense jet. PIV technique was used to determine the flow characteristics in the experiments. The PIV results illustrate three different flow regimes, namely the full submergence, plume contact and centerline impingement regimes. These results enable the assessment of mixing characteristics of the inclined dense jet in shallow coastal waters for environmental impact analysis.
