Abstract: Liuxihe Reservoir is a large valley-type, oligo-mesotrophic reservoir located in Guangdong Province, southern China. In order to understand the dynamic process of nutrients distribution and its effects on plankton, field measurements are carried out monthly in 2008. The concentration of nutrients from rivers is measured. The typical profiles of temperature and Chlorophyll show that the mixing force is not very strong in the reservoir and the profiles keep the linear distribution very much. The Chlorophyll’s profiles show that plankton keeps the one peak in spring time near the surface mixed layer. And there are two peaks in summer time of Chlorophyll, one near the surface mixed layer. The second peak is corresponding to the formation of seasonal thermocline. In October and November, the concentration of Chlorophyll decreased to rather low level.
