Abstract: Measurements of wave characteristics were performed on a physical model of a seawall with wave return. The observations reveal modifications in the shape of the spectra, in the spectral broadnessε, the narrownessνand the peakedness Qpparameters. These modifications depend on the Ursell number (Ur) and on geometrical parameters such as the water depth (h) and the distance from the front of the structure (DL). The parametersεandνare proportional to wave height, wave length, DLand h. The parameter Qpdepends on the wave length, the distance from the structure and the water depth. The broadness parameterεshows the best correlations among the considered parameters. In some cases, a double peaked spectrum was observed near the seawall, with a displacement of the peak period towards a lower frequency.
