Boussinesq Modelling of the Impact of Pressure Retarded Osmosis Plants in Nearshore Regions

Abstract: The evolution of a brackish water discharge in the presence of a wave field is investigated by a fully nonlinear Boussinesq-type model for breaking waves coupled with a two-dimensional gravity current model. On the basis of a comparison with laboratory data on non-breaking waves, it is shown that the model is able to accurately predict the evolution of density currents.
