Abstract: In the following paper we present a statistical and mathematical analysis of tree ring width data and assess its usefulness in generating extended annual runoff series by way of a runoff reconstruction method. The reconstructed runoff was also analysed in terms of its variability (both in terms of magnitude and event distribution) and correlation with the observed data as a verification of the reconstruction’s quality. This study was applied based on observed data from the Guadiana River Basin.
