Abstract: Cavitation problems in plunge pool of high arch dam are studied by model test under ambient vacuum pressure in this paper. It is found that shear cavitation occurs at the interface of jet nappe and water body in the plunge pool in model test. Analysis of cavitation similarity is verified that such cavitation will not affect the safety of the floor slab of plunge pool in prototype.
