Abstract: Some examples of dynamic flow measurements include descriptions of the turbulence by calculation of the energy spectra. In practical value these show the transfer of energy through to ultimate dissipation into small turbulence scales as per the classical theoretical form. But is there more to be gained from such representations? Several studies suggest the spectra can deliver more information about the geometry and scale of the motions.
