Abstract: The influence of suspended sediments on coherent flow structures has been studied by measuring simultaneously the instantaneous velocity and suspended concentration. The measurements show the predominance of the so-called ejection and sweep phases that compose the burst cycle. As a result the ejection and sweep phases seem to be strongly involved in suspended transport since the particles are eroded and/or suspended mainly by strong turbulent velocity fluctuations.
