Impacts of a Construction of Sea-Dyke and Reclamation Project on Water Qualityat Isahaya Bay

Abstract: At Isahaya Bay in Nagasaki, big project of constructing the sea-dyke and reclaiming one part of the surrounded area is now progressing. It is likely that there occur lots of problems on an environmental aspect, even if environmental impact assessment has sufficiently been done formerly. In this paper, outline of the project will first be introduced for realizing what kinds of things become the problem. Second, some results in our study will be shown, related to the qualitative changes of the newly-constructed regulation pond. Finally, some strategies to preserve the desirable condition will be described, hoping the sound and sustainable development of water environment.
