Abstract: The detailed wind and flow measurements carried out in 1995 and 1996 in two bays of the Hungarian part of Lake Neusiedl were accompanied with various sediment investigations. Analyzing the sedimentological parameters of samples collected from the suspended sediment at the current measurement sites, definite correlations were obtained between the dynamics of the water body and that of the bottom material of the lake. These first results are encouraging and suggest the continuation of the research as a lake-wide co-operation between Austria and Hungary in order to make the comprehensive numerical modelling of these phenomena possible for the whole lake.
