Abstract: Spur dikes are usually used to protect the side banks from being broken by the very fast flow of the river. Or they are used to face the direction of flow, for instance, to the center of the flow. In this case, if the effect by the river structure is too strong the bad influence will occur to the flow. Therefore the flexible structure to the flow is appropriate. Installing spur dikes of the structure along this purpose in the meandering channel, the laboratory experiments were carried out. The results relating to the excavation or sedimentation of the channel beds or to the velocity distribution of primary and secondary flows are considered comparing with the flow of the meandering channel without the spur dike.
