Abstract: There are numerous small reservoirs in China, as a result of the limitation of construction conditions and the low level of mechanization, the engineering construction quality is difficult to be guaranteed. Thus, small reservoirs are prone to the dangerous situation during the earthquake disasters, and geological disasters are extremely severe. Since the earthquake disasters occur frequently in China, it is necessary to carry out the study on the general characteristics of geological disasters of small earthquake-damaged reservoirs. By conducting the geological investigation and analysis of Earthquake-damaged Small reservoirs in Deyang City of Sichuan Province during Wenchuan earthquake, this paper summarizes the characteristics of the dangerous situation of small earthquake-damaged reservoirs, classifies the main geological disasters occurred within the hydraulic structures such as dams etc., analyzes the main geological disasters such as cracks, leakage, landslides, seismic subsidence etc., discusses geological disaster susceptibility locations of post-seismic small reservoirs, puts forward the general procedure and method of geological survey, studies the influence of various geological disasters on the safety of small reservoirs, and summarizes the emergency countermeasures for small reservoirs.
