Abstract: Urban land development is one of the major factors that cause undesirable effect to the nature of water body. This development pressures have finally caused significant consequences to the environment, particularly on the deterioration of water quality, ecological changes and disruption of aquatics life. Thus, this paper is aimed to investigate the water quality and pollution of the Sri Serdang Pond, Malaysia, in order to identify the significant types and sources of pollution within the catchments and followed with the compilation of pollution inventory data in the application of Geographic Information System (GIS). The GIS approach has been applied in this study with an appropriate setup of database by integrating all the information captured to support the water quality information system. Throughout the findings from this study, a proper maintenance of the pond is necessary to help in prevent detrimental concentrations of water quality constituents that could affect the local aquatic organisms and fish populations, or in other words, interfere with the natural life cycles of fauna and flora relying on water as fundamental to their reproduction and growth. Working towards it, the emissions of pollutant into the pond have to be controlled by the latest engineering technologies and systematic information approaches. The findings from this study can also be used to propose recommendations of remediation and management practice that will meet the desired condition of the pond. The best practices are recommended after considering the types, loads and sources of pollution. Eventually, water quality status of the pond can be improved by proper rehabilitation works.
