Abstract: In order to reduce the number of model parameters need to calibrate, and decreasing the uncertainty of flood forecasting, the method determining part parameters of Xinanjiang Model was researched, in accordance with the hydrologic characteristic index extracted from remote sensing information. Contraposing the characteristics of small watershed, based on superimposed analysis of Landsat water data with the land cover data, the impervious area ratio IMP has been extracted. Using DEM and remote sensing data such as soil, vegetation and land use, the basin moisture storage capacity WM, SM have been calculated indirectly. And according to the runoff characteristic of the study area, the nonlinear flow concentration was established. This paper took Wenxiakou Reservoir watershed as the research object. Part of the model parameters were calculated through the hydrological characteristics, and Xinanjiang Model and nonlinear conflux model were used to simulate the flood process in the basin, in order to verify the precision of simulation and validity and reliability of the method. The results showed that with the calculated parameters the small watershed hydrological simulation performed well, and provided a feasible method of flood forecasting in ungauged basins.
