Abstract: The entrance conditions, flow around the piers and the pressure distributions along the centerline and the side of the spillway channel for different discharges were investigated for Cambasi dam that will be constructed at the intersection of Kabali and Hamzabey rivers in Ordu District. Hydraulic model of the spillway was constructed at a length scale of 1/20, based on the Froude similarity. Additionally, the water depths and the velocities through the channel sections at different locations were investigated for a 1000 year flood discharge. The cavitation index at the centerline and the side of the spillway channel were calculated. Moreover, the impact location of the water jet was investigated. After performing experimental studies, it is concluded that the structure can pass the 1000 year flood discharge and there is no need to have aerators used for preventing cavitation damage.
