Abstract: The proposed paper aims to verify the capacity of the flushing channel to guarantee an appropriate water recirculation in the Canouan marina (Caribbean) during tides. Effects of different geometries for the flushing channel and the main harbor entrance are investigated by means of 2DH numerical model. The results, presented in terms of velocity field in the basin and residence time of released colored water, reveal the stronger influence in the water quality of the marina of channel/entrance depth with respect to their width. An efficient managing of the marina (maintenance strategy) is therefore advisable to optimize the water circulation inside the basin.
