Abstract: The integrated coastline zone management is a challenging issue for all urban areas around the world. The development of modern cities induces a complex management of the coastline which provides new activities and services and yet requires maintaining the fragile ecosystem. A thorough investigation on potential impacts on the dynamic of coastal and marine domains is called for. Sensors offer the possibility to follow and anticipate the dynamic of the coastal zone for the physical and biological processes as well. This paper presents some of the promising results obtained from the ADCP data collected in Monaco and, at the same time, demonstrates the creative application of artificial neural network to generate information very useful for a qualitative diagnostic of marine environment evaluations or for boundary conditions in hydrodynamic modelling systems of environmental assessment investigations.
