Abstract: The paper describes software components capitalizing on the ADCP measurement capabilities to provide the longitudinal dispersion coefficients in natural streams. The software has been, and continues to be, developed at IIHR- Hydroscience & Engineering pushed by a continuously increasing number of requests posed by the science, engineering, and monitoring communities to fully utilize the ADCP data potential for comprehensive characterization of the river hydrodynamics. Even without conducting a thorough validation, the paper clearly demonstrates the promise of ADCP data and the associated analytical algorithms for estimating longitudinal dispersion coefficients driven by either vertical or transverse velocity gradients. The strength of the software is that it couples in an innovative way the wealth of data provided by ADCPs with robust theoretical algorithms in one package delivered to users through friendly and straightforward graphical interfaces.
