Abstract: Flood events are one of the most frequently occurring natural calamities. They are also number one in property damage, apart from casualties. For this reason, in the recent years increased attention has been paid to various flood control measures which are intended to reduce the scope of damage. A significant means of such measures are flood control dikes which in the case of increased flow rates rectify the watercourses.
