Abstract: In this paper, several hydrogeological parameters, including rainfall intensity, characteristics of watershed area, and deposited sediment, of debris-flow events from 1985 to 2001 occurred in Taiwan are collected. An empirical relationship, which related to the rainfall intensity, runoff coefficient and watershed area, for estimated peak discharge of debris-flow is developed. According to the collected data, the peak discharge of debris-flow is evaluated based on the proposed relationship, and the relation between the peak discharge and the debris-flow deposited volume as well as the relationship of debris-flow deposited volume and watershed area in the view of probability are presented through statistical analysis. The empirical relationships proposed in this paper are also compared with those obtained from previous researches.
