Abstract: Ecological engineering for riverbank protection is one important component in stream restoration and rehabilitation. In engineering practice, it is difficult to quantify the factors about ecological, aesthetic, and harmonizing between human and nature of ecotype revetment projects for riverbank protection. In this study, based on the engineering practices and ecological principles, a quantitative assessment method was established to assess the preference order of alternatives scenarios combining with quantitative indicators and qualitative indicators. The assessment system was established used Delphi and AHP. A multicriteria decision-making method, TOPSIS (the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) was adopted to assist in the role of assessing and prioritize the alternatives of slopes protection. One example will be provided to illustrate how the assessment method was used.
