Abstract: To efficiently manage and distribute water resources, a rainfall runoff model must be selected and established. To determine the appropriations for this rainfall runoff model, however, accurate flow data must first be obtained. Towards this end, the simulated flow of Korea’s Geum river basin was determined in this study by applying the SSARR model thereto, and the value thus obtained was analyzed and compared with the observed flow in the Gongju point, a main control point. The appropriate parameters for the SSARR model were determined by using the previous observed flow data, and these parameters were used to calculate the runoff in 2005. The analysis of the runoff, however, revealed that despite the correction of the model’s parameters, a considerable number of errors occurred in the low-flow section. It was determined that the reason for this was the lack of confidence in the observed flow during the normal-water-level and drought seasons. To simulate an accurate rainfall runoff model in a watershed, it is suggested that the model should be applied in tandem with the evaluation and verification of the data obtained in the control point.
