Abstract: The paper gives an overview of different types of nature-like fish passes and outlines their structural and hydraulic designs. Pros and cons of the constructions are pointed out as well as new approaches for their structural and hydraulic design, e. g. a river zone-oriented design philosophy and a practically-oriented design procedure for rock-ramp fish passes.
