Abstract: As a fundamental study for predicting the topographical changes in the Nakdong river estuary, a monitoring of the topographical changes around Jinudo, a sandbar located in the western part of the Nakdong river estuary, was performed by installing monitoring piles. Also, the transportation pattern of the material loads in the study area was investigated by in-situ measurement for material loads and in-situ collecting experiment for suspended particulate matter (SPM) and bedload, and the correlation analysis was conducted to analyze the relationship between the topographical changes and SS (Suspended Solid) concentration. From the monitoring, it was found that all parts except the northern part of Jinudo had the active topographical changes and a tendency to annually deposit. From the in-situ measurement for material loads, collecting experiment of SPM and bedload, it was observed that the horizontal and vertical material loads (LH and LV) were about - 43. 3 kg∙day-1 (westward) and 31. 1 kg∙day-1 (northward) respectively. Also, it was found that the sedimentation rate and bedload flux were higher in the west part than in the east part of the Nakdong river estuary. Based on the results of correlation analysis between the seasonal changes of erosion/deposition rates around Jinudo and SS concentration near Jinudo, it was found that the topographical changes of the southern part of Jinudo have the highest correlation with SS concentration.
