Abstract: The present study concentrates on the estimation of a change of the water level and river-bed using an SMS system for the relocation of weirs as these have caused degradation to the riverside scenery and a serious interruption between the upstream and downstream areas of the Kongju gauging station on the Geum River, Korea. As a result of using an RMA2 and SED2D model in the SMS system in the present weir location, a large river bed difference and slope change between the upstream and downstream areas of the weir were found. However, through simulation it was also shown that the river reach of the relocated weir, which is in the vicinity of GongSanSeong, reduces scour. This results in a gentle slope of the river bed and ensures an appropriate water level. Finally, it is expected that the scenery of the Geum River along GongSanSeong and the river bank will be improved by the increased flow.
