Abstract: In this research, the electro-osmotic dewatering experiments were carried out to analyze the characteristics of electro-osmotic dewatering. D. C. electric fields of 2 V/cm, 5 V/cm, and 10 V/cm voltage gradients were applied for electro-osmotic dewatering. For 4 hours' dewatering experiment, the total discharges were almost linearly proportional to the increase of voltage gradient. The electro-osmotic dewatering with D. C. electric field resulted in some complications to be solved. The current decreased almost linearly throughout the dewatering process which resulted in decrease of dewatering efficiency. After dewatering process, pH values at the anode part were very low (pH=2-3) and pH at the cathode increased up to 12. The pH profiles in the soil cell were non-uniform distribution compared with initial pH (pH=5. 3). Water content values in the soil after experiment were almost negatively proportional to the applied voltage gradient. Spatial distributions of water content for each voltage gradient were showing relatively lower water content at the anode part compared with those of the cathode part
